Living in Aurora
Townhomes in Aurora suit a range of buyers, including first-time buyers, couples and small families who want a home with less upkeep than a detached house. Pre-construction townhomes are also an option for buyers who want to choose a home now and move in once it is built. The projects we list for this page are scheduled for completion in 2027, so buyers should plan their timing around that date.
Aurora is a town with a lot of green space. The Town manages more than 62 parks covering over 800 acres, and a trail system of about 62 kilometres connects many of them, which suits joggers, hikers and cross-country skiers. John Abel Park, on Hartwell Way, has a playground, a natural rock amphitheatre, community gardens and walkways that link to the trail network. For indoor activities, the Aurora Family Leisure Complex and the Aurora Recreation Complex on Wellington Street East offer programs for residents.
Getting around is straightforward. Aurora GO station is on the Barrie line and is served by York Region Transit routes 32, 33 and 54, along with On-Request Aurora GO service. Metrolinx is also upgrading the station with a second platform and second track, with major works expected to be complete by December 2027. Bloomington GO Station, on the Richmond Hill GO line, opened on June 28, 2021, and serves residents of Richmond Hill, Aurora and Whitchurch-Stouffville.
Families will find both public and Catholic school boards in the area. Cardinal Carter Catholic High School offers the International Baccalaureate program for Grades 9 to 12. Health services include Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Southlake Health's Newmarket Site.
