Living in Aurora
Aurora is a town in York Region, and its new projects include detached homes, townhomes and condos. The Aurora Heights neighbourhood is one of the areas where new homes are being built.
Getting around is a key part of living here. Aurora GO station, at 121 Wellington Street East, is on the Barrie line and has York Region Transit connections. YRT routes 32, 33 and 54 serve the station, along with On-Request Aurora GO. Metrolinx is also upgrading the station with a second platform and second track, with major works expected to be complete by Dec. 2027. Bloomington GO Station, on the Richmond Hill GO line, opened on June 28, 2021, and is positioned to serve residents of Richmond Hill, Aurora and Whitchurch-Stouffville.
For families, Aurora has several school options. The York Region District School Board operates its Education Centre at 60 Wellington Street West, and the York Catholic District School Board runs schools in Aurora as part of its York Region network. Cardinal Carter CHS, a Grade 9 to 12 International Baccalaureate school, is at 210 Bloomington Rd. W. Buyers should confirm school catchments directly with the boards before deciding.
Outdoor space is a big part of daily life. The Town of Aurora manages over 62 parks covering more than 800 acres, and a trail system of approximately 62 kilometres connects many of them. The trails are designed for joggers, hikers and cross country skiers. John Abel Park, on Hartwell Way, has a playground, a natural rock amphitheatre, community gardens and walkways that link to the trail system. The Aurora Family Leisure Complex and the Aurora Recreation Complex offer recreation programs for residents.
Nearby hospitals include Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital at 10 Trench Street, Richmond Hill, and Southlake Health's Newmarket Site at 596 Davis Drive, Newmarket. If you have questions about any of these projects or the area, contact us.
